The food tastes good, but not like a regular grill. Needs additional flavoring. Much less work to operate and worth the purchase and easy to operate on a porch or balcony.

I’ve always had gas grills, but due to fire codes cannot have one. This grill creates a similar charred look and texture of a gas grill. My only complaints are:1. The price2. Interior is stainless steel and browns immediately. They should have used black ceramic.

I bought this for my twin sons away at College. They cannot have gas or charcoal on their apartment balcony so this was out best choice. Our family business sells Fireplaces and BBQ’s, charcoal and gas. I have long had a bias against electric grills, believing they don’t get hot enough or do a good job. This grill is awesome. It reaches over 600 degrees in about 15 minutes and has nice cast iron grates. It cooks AS GOOD AS my expensive gas grill. I’m very impressed and my sons love it.

I just got the Lumin and it’s fantastic! I have a normal patio where I can use a propane or charcoal grill but, as I’ve gotten older and been widowed, the hassle of using either is not worth it. Plus, I have a porch where I can eat or entertain, so I can use it there when I want to – very versatile. No, it doesn’t taste like charcoal grilling, but it is at least as good as propane, to my uneducated palate. I’ve grilled steak and shrimp so far and both have been wonderful.I got the standard size and I’m glad I did because I fully intend to use both sides separately, so the space is welcome. And it’s not heavy; I simply make sure that the grills are not inside when I lift it.I didn’t get the stand, but set it up on a normal table, which gives me room to rest plates and utensils. Overall, I’m very happy with it.

Just another opinion
I didn’t have much in the way of expectations, but this grill hits the mark! It heats pretty quickly, gets very hot and the ribeyes I grilled this week would rival any cooked on a gas grill. It is a little heavy (see my only complaint, below). I spoke with someone at a company that sells lots of these and they said it will rust if left in the elements too long, so it will be a bit of a chore to bring it inside from the deck after each use. I may find something to store it in out there. It’s worth bringing it in – it’s so good you’ll want it to last.Only one complaint – while I did not purchase the stand, I know that it’s flimsy and wish Weber cared enough to create something sturdy – and on wheels – just as they do for other grills. Come on Weber!

I like that it cooks quickly once up to temperature and the grill marks make it look like a gas grill. Not quite as grill tasty as gas or charcoal, but the convenience outways that. The compact version is perfect for two people but can be stretched for more. Easy to clean and set up.The associated stand is easy to set up but is very rickety, not Weber quality, but it works. For the price, I think that they should provide a grill pan for baking veggies, not just steaming.

I really love the size of this Weber Lumin Compact Grill and the black outside casing with the top heat temperature gauge is just beautiful. It is being kept on my uncovered patio so I bought the bonnet to keep it protected. It has a high heat control of 650 degrees. Comes with accessories to steam and cook vegetables. The grill grate is substantial so no worries about corrosion if cleaned properly. Love the replaceable aluminum drip pan below. What makes it 3 stars for cleaning is the drippings go to the metal below before getting to the aluminum drip pan. This has to be cleaned. A suggestion to Weber would be to include some kind of silicone mat that can withstand 650 degrees and is removable which would make it easier to clean. Otherwise, I love this grill.

I’ve owned webers q1400 electric grill for years, figured I’d give this new one a try based on the smoking option and over 600 degree claim. It’s the real deal, much hotter than the 1400 and definitely can sear a steak with the best gas grill out there. Highly recommend for those in a condo like myself where open flames are not allowed(even though I still use a mini charcoal grill on occasion) well worth the money! Food was awesome and gave me that grilled flavor much better than webers older electric grills

Heats up so quickly and is not even that small. The fact that you don’t have to deal with gas and worry if you have enough is amazing. Cleaning it is not that easy though so it needs to be done more often.

I’ve done steaks, burgers, veggies, ribs. Keep it closed to keep the heat in. Clean it every time. If you cook the grills with food on it, you have to soak. Just put the grills in the dishwasher–great!

This grill gets to 600F which is awesome for grilling meats! Easy to clean and setup. Great advancement in electric grilling.

Had really high hopes for this thing, but I have been very disappointed. The grill initially worked well and reached the advertised 600F temp (once), but after one month of use (grilled about once per week), the grill only reaches about 450-500F. This isn’t even enough to burn off the grill grates! Weber customer service was good and replaced the temp control unit, but even the new one failed to even get to 500F. But what really sucks is that since it worked well at the beginning and I was able to use it to cook food, I can no longer return it! You would think a $500 metal box with a heating element would be a straight forward product… also, it’s worth mentioning that the plastic temp control unit gets hot! During normal use it would get up to 170F. I guess that’s normal, but I don’t like the idea of the only electrical component getting so hot.

Lumin grill claims temps reach up to 600F. I have used the grill over 20 times and temperature barely reaches 500F and once you open the lid and close it, the temp drops to 400F or below and NEVER returns to the pre-heated max temp. Don’t waste your money on this one. Instead treat yourself out to local BBQ restaurants- you’ll be glad you did. Sorry Weber, but this one is a loser.

We had been wanting to get a nice grill for quite a while. We considered using our natural gas and really going big, but just never did it. Charcoal & propane are huge hassles to keep up with. Choosing the Weber Lumin Outdoor Electric Grill was an easy decision for me.First, it does not come with a stand, which is a huge bummer. I will probably buy the stand down the road. The grill comes with instructions for French, English & Spanish users. I read through it all because I did not want to mess up the new grill! Before every use, you are instructed to heat up the grill to 500 degrees, for up to 20 minutes. That was easy. The temperature gauge is super easy to read and quite interesting to watch, as the temperature plummets every time you open the cover to check your food. There are extra pans to use for steaming & searing, but we went right for the grill feature, and bought some nice ribeye steaks to grill. I was so concerned about the grease getting on the heating elements, but that was never a problem. The steaks cooked nicely and tasted fantastic. They had sear marks and looked beautiful. I also threw some fresh asparagus on the grill and it turned out great. After the grill cooled down, I assessed the damage and the aluminum base that sets under the element is pretty nasty with grease & burned on gunk, after cooking 4 steaks. Sure, I emptied out the bottom pan that is removable, but cleaning the burned on stuff from the inside is pretty difficult. You can’t just pull the heating element out, you have to try to clean under it, around, etc. It’s not easy. I used some orange degreaser cleaner and almost a full roll of paper towels, and its still dirty. Also, the instructions say not to use a foil liner. So is the plan to just live with a dirty grill? That just feels wrong but I guess its part of grilling.I love this grill so far and do plan on keeping it and using it. Cooking outside is the bomb in good weather. I just have the two issues, which again, this grill does not come with a stand and the stand is almost another $200 if purchased separately, and the cleaning is nearly impossible. Otherwise, for an electric grill, its fantastic.6 months add on review: I still like the grill but the hard to clean thing is a pain. Grease builds up, catches fire. When the grill is too hot, the temperature gauge shuts off. You have to unplug the grill, reset it. After the unit cools down, the gauge starts working again.

I really like this Grill for its versatility and ability to use in tight spaces like an apartment balcony. The unit heats quickly – in my case I followed the directions to get it to 450 before searing my ribeye – took about 10 mins to get to temp. Searing the steak was as expected from a timing perspective and was even throughout. My steak looked beautiful, with the only downside being that it didn’t have any of that taste you get from an open flame. I prefer charcoal, but even propane gives more than this did. Again, that is not to say this is a deal breaker just know what you are getting. I also grilled some asparagus and they came out deliciously. As a result, I found myself using this grill as a way to quickly and cleanly grill sides to accompany a long smoke that I do in my Weber Kamado. Speaking of clean up, this is super easy. I just used a wet rag after about 30-45 mins of cooling. Easily wiped off any residue and it’s ready to go for the next time.

Update 3/6/23:I have to take away a star. The grill is, as I said before, high quality and works really well. So I decided to use the smoke infusion on my steak. As per instructions, I set it to the smoke setting, let it get smoking good and put on my steaks. I left it for a bit, as the smoke setting for all other devices I own is 225-275, I was expecting to smoke for 30-45 minutes and check the temp. But since it was unfamiliar, I checked at 15 minutes, and the temp was 450 degrees! My steak was already 145 and I hadn’t had a chance to sear yet. Maybe partly my fault for assuming, but I did think smoke was a lower temp function to give time for smoke to be absorbed. Nothing in the manual led me to think otherwise. Sigh! Will know better next time!Original review:This grill appears to be really high quality, as I would expect from Weber. I need to wait for better weather to try to cook with it, which is the most important thing for a grill, but I wanted to go ahead and get a few things out there. I’ll update with cooking results. I have a couple of small sirloins waiting for the severe weather to pass.First, this thing is HEAVY! It is not something I would want to carry around. I have it on a rolling cart right now, maybe someday I will update to the cart that’s made for it, but it’s pretty costly.Assembly is – well, there is no real assembly. There is a ton of packaging to be removed (it is very well packaged) but basically you just unpack the parts and set them in.It seems to be great quality, and it looks like it will do well for what it is intended for. I own a Ninja Woodfire grill, and this will fill in some of the things the Woodfire can’t do (steaming, high temp, etc.). It can easily be configured for different modes (steaming, smoking, grilling, etc.) as shown in the product description. It comes with 2 grill grates, a solid pan and a slotted pan (each of which is the size of one grill grate), so you take out one or two of the grill grates and replace with the pans for the different modes. The grease from cooking drains down into a catch pan, and they include one aluminum disposable liner for the catch pan. Replacement disposable pans are (as usual) kinda costly, so probably can use some aluminum foil to prolong the life. Would have been nice if they had included some extras considering the price. Some things to note… the interior is not tall, so you will not be putting whole chickens into it (probably can use half chickens) and doesn’t look like a pork shoulder will fit (but even though it can smoke, I don’t see that as its primary use). But the thing is, the instructions don’t include any suggestions about what to cook in it (recipes)! I suspect there are, or will be, some youtube videos out for it.Another thing needed is a cover, which I have not seen offered yet, so it will need to be kept in a sheltered area. The power cord is not really long (longer than the Woodfire at least) so needs to be close to a plug to use, or have a very heavy duty extension.I worry about cleaning – the area below the heating element will eventually need cleaning, and you need to remove the element. This is done by removing some screws, and I have a tendency to drop loose screws. Would have been better if it plugged in like an oven or stove element. They do include a plastic scraper for use in cleanup.I look forward to using this – the first thing I will try is smoking a couple of bacon-wrapped sirloins, then pulling them off, setting it to high, and searing them. Again, examples, suggestions, and recipes would have been nice – Come on Weber, include some of the things that you want to show off for this grill!

for $500.00 you could at least include a cooking guide — you know — temp control — lid open –closed for fixing certain foods — steaks — chicken — pork chops — etc I know cost to much — 50 cents per unit ——- cheap!!!!

The Weber Lumin outdoor electric grill comes in a standard-size and a small compact grill. We got the standard size in black and, like all Weber products, it is well-made and hefty. We did not get the optional stand. The 3-prong Controller plugs into the side and must be stored inside out of the weather (do not use the grill when the Controller can get wet – it will ruin it). It plugs into a standard outlet and draws 1560-watts (think large hair dryer). The heating element on the bottom looks like one from an electric oven and will heat the grill to over 600F (pegging the built-in thermometer). It comes with two removable porcelain-enameled, cast iron grates that, once warm, will sear just about anything (including hands). Either side grate can be replaced with the supplied smoker/steamer tray that can hold the reversible steam pan. Use the tray to hold water (beer or other favoring optional) or smoke pellets to increase the versatility of your grill. These can be covered by the steam pan so that the item to be steamed or smoked is away from direct heat, allowing cooking two types of foods simultaneously. Underneath is a nifty pull-out catch tray for grease that holds the standard Weber disposable aluminum drip pan. It also comes with a plastic scraper to push grease into the pan from underneath the heating element (once the cooled grates are removed). They recommend cleaning the grates with a stainless steel brushes (not included). The Controller has five main settings – high, steam, smoke, medium and low/food warming. The manual instructs how to set the grill up for searing, steaming, smoke infusing, food warming, and grill from frozen. The Weber website has hundreds of recipes that can be used on the grill from meats and vegetables to pizza and cake.We got the grill thinking that we would use it primarily in our camper, but the full-sized one is big and heavy and the compact one may be better suited for that use. The grill cooks well, but I prefer charcoal or flame to get the meat caramelized and infused with flavor. The smoking option helps to add that flavor. The electric option means no gas tanks to worry about and may reduce pollution, but the cost to operate will be lost in your electric bill.Overall, a flexible and good electric grill for multiple foods that isn’t very portable.

I needed this for a small deck on the second floor. I didn’t want anything with fire too close to my house. I had to place this on a stand (sold separately). It cooks evenly and it’s easy to adjust the temperature. It is much easier to cook my fish and there was no smell in my house, because I can now cook it outside. Although, I do not get that flame flavor it is still grilling. The plates are coated non-stick and easy to clean.

After using another outdoor electric grill for over 15 years, I decided it was time for an upgrade. So, I asked for this as a gift. My only complaint was with Amazon. My mom thought she was ordering me the “standard” size, and double checked before buying, but was charged for (and given) the compact size. With that being said, the compact size is more than enough for two people to do meat and steam veggies. If you are only looking to grill meat, it will easily do 4 large steaks. Get the standard size if you have a larger household.I wanted a work horse and I got one! The options are endless with this thing. I might upgrade in a few years to the larger version, but for the size, it’s AMAZING!!!I do wish the stand was a little more sturdy; this feels a little… tippy. But, I’m sure a newer stand will be out in a few years and I can upgrade. If you have HOA restrictions on grills, this is the one you want! I’m already looking at the griddle add-on for “smash burgers”.

Unboxing: 5/5Upon opening the branded box this arrived in, you’re greeted with absolute quality. Everything will arrive safe without scratches, which is great. You’re not going to want to use it when you see it. It’s so shiny and clean.Looks: 5/5Looks like pure quality. It has a beautiful temperature gauge on top, gorgeous metal accents all the way around, and the inside is sectioned with beautiful metal as well.Quality / Durability: 5/5It’s Weber, this thing is pure quality. As for durability, it’s a hefty grill that won’t let you down. I’ve used it numerous times and treated it carefully each time, and it has continued to work great.Function: 5/5I’ve never used an electric grill before this one, and I would say it’s almost better than a gas grill. Chicken, steak, and even veggies are so easy to cook. They all end up with a really nice char and taste tender and amazing, no matter the quality of the meat. You can remove the grates inside and clean them, making it easy to keep it looking shiny and beautiful.Right now I’m using the grill on a wooden table, but you will need a stand. I’m thinking I’ll buy the one from Weber to make it a full package.Long story short, if you’re looking for an electric grill, this is the one to get.Value (for the listed price): 5/5Overall: 5/5

I got this grill as an option to use during cold weather in the garage. It’s the perfect size for a small family. It takes a little longer to heat than my Genesis gas grill but that’s an easy trade off to have burgers on the grill without freezing while grilling! It heats to 500 in about 15-20 minutes just like the instructions say it will.I also got the stand, which is stationary. It’s plastic and snaps together easily.Overall, it’s a great option for us, easy to use and makes grilling in the winter enjoyable!

So excited for warmer weather to come so I can use this grill more! Unfortunately we’ve been stuck in unusually rainy weather so I have only been able to use this once so far, but this will be perfect to cook quick meals for me and my husband, but I can see it can also feed a small crowd. We had a gas grill several years ago but replaced it with a pellet grill when it died. The problem we’ve had with the pellet grill is sometimes it’s slow to heat up and can’t maintain the temperature in very cold or windy weather. This Weber heated up to 500° pretty quickly, a temperature our pellet grill doesn’t even have a setting for. I grilled some pork shoulder and it got a nice sear quickly and the inside stayed moist. While the Weber doesn’t have precise temperature controls, I think the low-medium -high will be sufficient for most of my needs. And even though it looked small, it was able to hold a lot more food that I thought so I cooked everything in one batch. We’re using an old folding table to hold it right now but have a metal BBQ table on order. It would have been nice if the stand were included or the Weber one was cheaper. Since the grates come off easily and are not too big, we can clean them off in the sink without too much hassle.

This little thing is a powerhouse. My husband is a Weber guy, he has them all and naturally this was on his list. It’s a powerful little unit- heavy though! We are looking to take this camping with us at places that have a power source but he’s going to have to do the lifting. I wish it were a bit more portable for the small size but it is what it is. Easy to assemble (not much required) but it would be 100x better if it came with the stand as well. Out of the box it heats high and heats fast. The “smoker” addition is a nice touch but it is NOT a smoker. There are pans to have you steam your veg, which was awesome, I also threw some shrimp in the steamer and it worked beautifully (better on the grill). There’s even a warming feature to keep the food in the grill for casual dining. Easy clean up- treat it like a regular propane grill.Overall, its a great little unit that has no problems or issues whatsoever. For me, I wish it were just a bit more portable!

I am thrilled to be able to legally grill on my patio. It grills very well and the food tastes about the same as would from a gas grill. It is well made and doesn’t take up much space. The biggest problem that I have with it is the smoke. A regular flame grill burns off the fat as it melts but this grill appears to turn more of it into smoke. For a condo or apartment patio this can be a problem even if it is legal. Keeping it clean between uses might help but taking it apart and scrubbing it down between uses is not that practical. IDK, if there was an easy way to line it with disposable foil that might solve the problem. The second issue is power. Most people don’t have a 20 amp outlet on the patio. I can get by with a standard outlet but every thing else on the breaker has to be off or it trips. It is what it is.

This is my third electric grill, and by far the very best! I cannot use gas or flame on my condo deck, so I have been using – and a bit frustrated with – electric grills as they don’t get hot enough to cook steaks or any high-temp meals on cooler evenings. Not so with the Lumin! This gets every bit as hot and is just as controllable as the gas grills I’ve used previously, and, as long as I clean the pan periodically, there are almost no flare-ups. That’s the one ding on this one – it’s a bit of a challenge/chore to scrape the pan below the heating element. But worth the effort.Amazingly versatile with the supplied steamer pans, and the temperature is easily controllable to create a good sear on a steak & then drop the temp to finish cooking.OK Ding #2 – it’s quite expensive too. But I guess you get what you pay for, and after using this almost every day for three months I have no regrets!

This grill cooks well and is a great choice for residents unable to use gas grills. It is easy to use and control the temperature. It sears very nicely. Cleaning the grates and the area below the grate is more challenging than I had hoped. I have lined mine with foil after its first use.

I am really enjoying this grill. It takes about 10-15 minutes to heat up, so not much different than a conventional grill. But this grilled is double wall insulated and can get really hot if you leave it on high…we’re talking over 500 degrees hot. We’ve cooked really good pizza on this grill using a pizza stone on the grill grate. I’ve cooked/smoked a whole spatchcocked chicken on one side of this grill using the smoke pan in the other side. Came out perfectly flavored and colored with apple wood. The grates are easy to clean (I’m using a nylon “cold clean” brush), and the drip tray is easily accessible from the front. Weber makes disposable drip trays for this grill. Best of all, it runs on a standard 120v outlet. No stinky propane, no flame ups from charcoal. Thanks Weber.

Was a bit worried about the cleaning and pre-heating from other comments but it turns out neither are a problem. Preheating is because it actually works like a normal grill, not a hot plate griddle, so you have to get temperature into the cast iron and ceramic (?) shell to cook consistently. Have been more than impressed by the flavour and consistency of this thing, honestly would recommend to anyone who wants to get as close to non-electric grilling as possible. One thing to note: be careful on power draw. I went up from the recommended 16AWG to a 12AWG extension cord — but regardless you need something heavy duty because it does pull ~1600 watts and 12-13A. Make sure it’s not on a breaker with other high watt items.
